Audio Description Voice Over
Female Audio Description Voice Over
Heather found the wonderful genre of Audio Description when her Disney+ account began playing the Audio Description of The Falcon And The Winter Solider. Struck by the vocal prowess, restraint yet detailed storytelling by the narrator, she fell in love with AD right away. She began researching how to get involved with it and hasn’t looked back.
Within months, she began working and has been honored to have audio described television titles such as HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 11, Disney+ Welcome to Earth, National Geographic’s documentary Becoming Cousteau and series Dog Impossible. She has voiced movies such as Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, Fire with Fire, Reprisal, The Men Who Stare at Goats, Escape from Pretoria and the recent Oasis Documentary.
What Is Audio Description?
So what is Audio Description? Taken from the Audio Description Project page of the American Council of the Blind or ACB website https://adp.acb.org/ad.html
“Audio Description involves the accessibility of the visual images of theater, television, movies, and other art forms for people who are blind, have low vision, or who are otherwise visually impaired. It is a narration service (provided at no additional charge to the patron) that attempts to describe what the sighted person takes for granted — those images that a person who is blind or visually impaired formerly could only experience through the whispered asides from a sighted companion.
In theaters, in museums, and accompanying television, film, and video presentations, Audio Description is commentary and narration which guides the listener through the presentation with concise, objective descriptions of new scenes, settings, costumes, body language, and “sight gags,” all slipped in between portions of dialogue or songs.”
Heather was honored to have been interviewed recently by the Audio Description Network Alliance (ADNA) Founder and master voiceover actor, Roy Samuelson https://www.roysamuelson.com/tag/voice-over/ for their podcast, Know Your Narrator. Roy is a leader in making sure that the quality of Audio Descrption always is at the forefront. From the ADNA https://theadna.org “His goal is connecting audio description audiences, creators, and talents to the entertainment industry, and continuing to shift the perspective on excellence in entertainment media, leading conversations about inclusion, and creating universally profitable opportunities for access.”
